Mindless Musings

I was listening to the radio on the way
home from work yesterday.
You know how you do...
With only the corner of one ear.

Out of that corner I heard a woman say
"My number 2 doesn't look like number 2."

?????????????
So what does it look like?
A 5?
Maybe you should print?
And what makes you think anybody cares
about your number 2 anyway?

Oh wait.
You mean THAT number 2.

REALLY?????????
On the RADIO???????

But I guess that shouldn't surprise me
since there are now television commercials
discussing the various uses and problems
with toilet paper.
Granted they are cartoon bears.
(Although there is now one with PEOPLE!)

How did we get here?
It wasn't that long ago we didn't even acknowledge
there WERE bodily functions,
let alone discuss them in polite society.

Oh yeah.
There's the rub.
Polite Society.
It's gone the way of the Dodo bird.
(Were there ever really Dodo birds?)

These are the things I muse about
on my daily drive.

Bet you wish you were here!  LOL
(And yes, I realize I just wrote a blog post about #2)
(I apologize)

It's All About the Numbers

This is where I spend my weekends.

That podium up front is where I sometimes sit.
(although usually I do the "caged tiger" thing
back and forth, back and forth, across the
front of the room...)

This is MY view.
(Insert students... lol)

Generally I have between 12 and 18 students.

This weekend, however, they went NUTS
and registered 80 students!!!!
Which is why I was in an empty classroom
for an hour Friday evening, setting out
books at each of the 40 chairs I had available.

And why I spent the night hoping and praying
that at least half of them would chose to
sleep in on a rainy, stormy, yucky Saturday.

I was THRILLED to top out at 38 students.

And now I'm exhausted.

Luckily Rod mentioned something about
how long it's going to take to grade
next week's final exam and I realized
I only have 25 final exam booklets!!!!

Xerox to the rescue!

Keep Swimming, Keep Swimming

Well, not "swimming" exactly.

More like splashing and flapping,
and having a wonderful time!

Until a certain little dog came to drink
and scared them.

They are feathering up quite nicely.
They still have to be picked up each morning
and evening to move them to their condo.
(They "overnight" in a rabbit hutch)
But they are getting better at that too.
(Although there is still MUCH NOISE...)

Speaking of a "certain someone"
she has discovered socks.
Her favorite toy.
(And she has a LOT of toys...)

She does make a good Sunday afternoon nap buddy though...

(PS - Rod says to announce her name is officially ROXIE...)
Phew!  Glad THAT'S cleared up!

Welcome ROXY!!!!

She seems to like the name...
Comes to it as much as she comes to anything else.
LOL

But Rod thought we should spell it Roxy
instead of Roxie,
was afraid it was too close to Rozie.
LOL
(But Rozie seems to be ok with it...  grin)

Anyhow.
Yesterday she got into a big mud puddle
while we were refilling the cow's water trough.
*Yes, Sir dumped it and carried it over
to the fence again.  He loves his toys!

As a former "city" dog,
I have a feeling this was the first time
she ever got to SEE mud, let alone play in it!

Naturally I didn't have my phone with me,
so no pictures.
I was busy trying to make sure the cows
didn't step on any of the dogs.
They were busy playing and totally NOT
paying any attention to the cows.

I am pretty sure our farm is now FULL.
(Except, of course, for the new calf we
plan to buy at the end of the month
when Sir goes to his "new home"...)

Name That Puppy

I caved.

We now have an inside the house dog.
And she is "mine".
(although she LOVES Rod...)

She is a mini Austin Shepherd.

Bandit and Shadow wrestle 24/7.
So Shadow wants to wrestle with her too,
but the puppy doesn't understand that.
So far mostly they just run REALLY fast
and the big dogs chase her until
she quits and lays down.
But she's not afraid, she just loves to run.
(Although with no tail, it's hard to tell how
she is feeling...)

They run and run and run and then
the puppy just turns and either lays down
or turns and faces them like, OK, now what???

++++++++++++++++++

Later...
(I got interrupted for a bit there...
you know... WORK?
I know, really, HOW RUDE!)

Anyhow.
I'm kind of thinking Roxie.
(or Ginger, but I like Roxie better...)

Votes????
Or other ideas????

Random Stuff

It's Tuesday.
I'm bored.
I'm working on posting that giant pile.
And it's mind numbing.

I just took an "early" lunch.

It's not a very good picture,
but it was a VERY good lunch!

I had some extra Taco Bell taco supremes
left from lunch on Saturday.
Scraped the "guts" from 3 of them
into a mason jar and topped it off
with some salad.

Today for lunch I dumped it into my
giant plastic serving bowl (lives in my filing cabinet)
and then added a "single serve" of
Holy Guacamole (purchased at Sam's Club).
It's not the best guacamole in the whole world,
a little thin and watery, but perfect for
a salad dressing!

And now I'm full.

Do I look full?
(or just tired... lol)

New shirt & some of the earrings
I found at H&M on Saturday
when I went to return one of my new shirts.

Cute and kind of retro.
(The ones on the top left are black RUBBER!)
TOTALLY love that!

Good Morning

And thanks!

Yesterday, the sky was pretty overcast.
And there was a wreck out on the highway
just about at our exit,
so they were sending everyone down
our connecting road
which makes it nearly impossible to
turn left to head to work.

Which means I turned right and went
through town.

But this morning I left a little early.
There was, seriously, NOBODY
on our connecting road.
Which was really nice.

And the sky was blue and clear.
Which meant when I got to the river,
it was BEAUTIFUL.

Back from Vacation

I'm BAAAAAACK!
And boy was it the perfect vacation!

We did a lot of visiting.
A lot of laughing.
A lot of eating.
A lot of RESTING.
A lot of relaxing.
A little bit of "burning".
A little bit of shopping.
A lot of reading.
A lot of loving.

And now I'm back.
And I think my co-workers are pleased.

The pile in the foreground is the
"million dollar file" I got this morning.
It is 142 pages.
It will take about a day and a half to finish.

The pile in the background is the
"million dollar file" they got last week.
It is 1372 pages.
It will take ... eternity.

So if you don't hear from me for awhile...
I'm preparing for my NEXT vacation.

LOL
