I know.
It's winter.
For some of us.
(Of course SOME of us went to Mexico
for the week...)
(Lucky ducks!)
But for some, it is COLD.
And windy.
And snowy.
You know...
Winter.
But this is Florida.
And this is what my front yard looks like.
We have these awesome pink flowers.
But only in the winter.
Wish they were there all year...
but they aren't.
So we enjoy them while we can.
Hope you enjoy them too!
(the purple in the background in a
bougainvillea - flowers all year round
so there's that...)

our bougainvillea plants usually freeze around thanksgiving but this year they lasted till just after the new year. i spent yesterday and some of last weekend cutting all the dead stuff off them and trimming them back. there is already lots of new growth coming up from the bottom.
We planted two bougainvilleas last year next to a new trellis, hoping it would cover the trellis and shade our south-facing, uninsulated bedroom wall. No dice. They grew to be about 18" tall, then "died." We did notice they are sprouting again, so we're hoping for a better show this year.
Only the one by the front door grew and looks awesome. The horses ATE the other ones... I'm going to try again, but on the OTHER side of the fence this time.
