New Steel

The guys started working on rehabbing the horse trailer.
It is looking kind of rough.
The back doors basically fell off.
(Well, the center post rusted through so there
wasn't anything for them to attach to...)

Anyhow.

They pulled the floor out and then brought
it up to the patio to look closely and decide
what exactly needs to be done.

The more they dug,
the worse it looked.

Until it looked like this.

He cut it off the frame and
crushed it with his Cat!

Strapped it onto the trailer...

And hauled it to the scrap yard.
It's on that pile somewhere...

This is all that was left.
And the rails are actually rusted pretty badly.
So they are going too...

Saturday they set up the welder,
the easy-up tent,
and their supplies and they got started.

Unfortunately, they ended up a stick of steel short.
So they covered it up with a tarp and left it.

Today Kyle and I drove down to Ft. Pierce and
picked up the rest of the steel (45 minutes away...
but $30/stick CHEAPER! Wish we had known about
them YEARS ago!!!)

It was a cool place with LOTS of steel.
This is just one bay. They had 9.

So....
They are fabricating an entirely new stock trailer,
from the ground up.
I'll document it as it goes.
But we don't need it until August 8
(our "freezer camp" appointment for the cows...)
so it might take a little while.
(And there is a LOT of work involved!)

I'm excited!

Meanwhile....

Kyle also got a hair cut today.

No "after" photo since we all know how Kyle
feels about having his "picture took"...
(grin)
It looks really good though!
